Excavator Attachments

January 25, 2022

There are various types of excavator attachments. How do you choose the right one?

Hydraulic breaker

The hydraulic breaker is powered by pressurized oil supplied by the excavator’s or loader’s pump station, which can more effectively remove loose rocks and soil from cracks in the rock during the excavation of a building’s foundation. The key to selecting a hydraulic breaker is to choose the model that best suits the excavator’s specifications and the operating environment.

Hydraulic breakers have become an important tool for hydraulic excavators, and some people install them on backhoe loaders or wheel loaders for crushing operations.

Ripper/Scarifier

The ripper has a replaceable working attachment with breaking and loosening functions. It is available in two versions: a ripper for excavators and a ripper for bulldozers.

The ripper for an excavator is also called a bucket hook, and the ripper for a bulldozer is also called a tail hook. It is generally a single-tooth design, but two-tooth or three-tooth versions are also available, all of which provide strong digging and cutting force. The loosening tooth is integrally cast and features ear holes on its upper section, which are hinged to the stick and bucket cylinder, respectively. The tip of the tooth is fitted with a hard alloy-clad tooth cap. When the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder extends, the tooth tip is forced to penetrate and turn the soil.

It is used for excavating cracked rock, breaking up frozen soil, and digging asphalt roads. It is suitable for crushing and splitting hard soil, semi-hard rock, and weathered rock, thereby facilitating excavation and loading operations with a bucket.

Quick hitch

Quick-change joints for excavators are a type of construction machinery component that is independently designed, developed, and manufactured to meet the specific operational requirements of excavators.

Excavator quick couplings are divided into mechanical quick couplings and hydraulic quick couplings; mechanical quick couplings can be used without modifying the excavator’s piping and hydraulic system (low-cost type); hydraulic quick couplings require modifications to the excavator’s piping and hydraulic system to enable automatic replacement of working attachments.

Quick connector for excavators, also known as a quick-change connector.

Quick-change connectors for excavators allow for the rapid attachment of various accessories to the excavator, such as buckets, rippers, breakers, hydraulic shears, wood grabs, and stone grabs, thereby expanding the excavator’s capabilities, saving time, and improving work efficiency.
